Description

DAVOSA is reviving the spirit of the 1960s with the Sixties edition of its popular Ternos diver’s watch. In this edition, the Swiss manufacturer of high-quality mechanical watches focuses not only on materials and design, but also on how the watch feels on the wrist, in a bid to revive the carefree decade during which freedom in lifestyle and fashion became so important.

FLAIR OF THE 60S

With a case diameter of only 40 mm, the Ternos Sixties is inspired by the moderate case sizes of past decades. The height is a slender 12 mm, despite the domed glass and the diving bezel. This has been achieved by a clever case construction, which scores points with the case head weight including movement and dial of only 58 g. The vintage calfskin leather strap gives the timepiece an elegant and timeless charm.

DIVING WITH CLASS

The case of the Ternos Sixties, made entirely of corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel, has the appearance of a lens and thus nestles perfectly on the wrist: the screwed-in back curves downwards by a few millimetres and conceals the robust Swiss automatic movement DAV 3021. On the top, the dial side is protected by a domed glass characteristic of the 60s. The unidirectional rotating aluminium bezel underlines the vintage character and is available in blue, black or burgundy.

FLAIR OF THE 60S

This has been achieved by a clever case construction, which scores points with the case head weight including movement and dial of only 58 g. The metal bracelet adds only 68 g, because the 3 mm thick links, which taper from 20 mm to 16 mm, are also reminiscent of the fashion of the time.

DETAILS OF THE 60S

RIVETS INSTEAD OF SCREWS

Today, high-quality metal bracelets almost always have individually screwed links whose screws are almost invisibly countersunk in the respective link. In the last century, functional watches also often used visible rivets, which can be easily recognised by the raised curves on the outside of the links. DAVOSA has given the Ternos Sixties a metal strap with precisely this appearance. The rivets on the lower links are nevertheless screwed down for easy strap adjustment.
