In 2007, a nondescript violin player started busking at the entrance of a subway station in Washington DC. It was an all-familiar sight: a man wearing a baseball cap over a fleece sweater, a violin, and the case at his feet. He started off playing one of the most intense pieces for violin of the world, the first movement of Bach's Violin Concerto and continued with pieces from Bach and Mendelssohn for around 30 minutes.

Of the over 1,000 people that passed through the station, only 27 cared about giving him any money, and only 7 actually stopping to listen to his playing, which was not just good.

It was awesome.
